I asked for a swap on an apartment in Florida last week. I only asked to 2 members if they were interested. They both replied within 24 hours. The first one had already arranged a swap for next year. The second one said that they would be interested. We have today finalised everything and are looking forward to spend Christmas in Orlando. Our friends will be using our Spanish villa in April. THIS IS GREAT! I couldn’t believe how easy it was and I am looking forward to arrange other free holidays.

Good luck with this concept. I think it sounds fantastic and is so much better than house swapping. Having allowed guests to use our home in the past when we were going on holidays has convinced me that the stress of getting your home ready for those guests added 200% to the stress of getting the family ready to go away. Using our holiday home in this way seems ideal and if it allows us to access a holiday home overseas we will be thrilled.
I assume you will notify us when the website is launched in early March. I hope you have loads of interest and I will certainly be passing on the website details to my friends with holiday homes in Australia.
Kind regards

I think this is a great idea!!! I am sure it will work. As a holiday home owner I have often wished I could do something like this. As a timeshare owner, I know how difficult I have found getting the desired location for a holiday exchange through RCI the timeshare swap host. We pay over £90 for the exchange. Worse still we can not look and see what there is to pick from until we bank our own timeshare week. After banking we then realise that the location/dates we desire does not exist. I did not hear about this site, but simply found it by googling with the search 'holiday home swap'. I am hopeful that we can look forward to many holiday home swaps with other holiday home owners.

Good luck!!

Second-home swap site links owners worldwide

Baby boomers are snapping up vacation homes, research shows. But the holiday residences stand empty much of the time.

A new service, Swapandstay .com, offers a possible solution. Members pay about $90 per year to list their property on the Web site for other second-home owners to see and possibly swap for. Properties may be anywhere in the world.

Unlike some house swaps, the weeks don't have to be simultaneous. Although only sole owners of a property can participate (no timeshares allowed), the second homes may be houses, condos, cabins, villas, boats or RVs.

England-based Swapandstay doesn't inspect properties. It acts only as a link between homeowners. Swappers must verify details of a property for themselves and cobble their own exchange agreements. If the values of two properties are unequal, owners may trade several weeks for one or pay cash for the difference.

The National Association of Realtors reported in 2005 that 6.6 million Americans own second homes.
